Black Friday and holiday emails for candy and chocolate shops
For a candy or chocolate shop, the holidays are the year. Gift boxes, stocking stuffers, corporate orders and last-minute pickups all land in the same few weeks, and so does the logistics. Your emails should do some of that work for you.
Why candy shops need their own plan
Chocolate is a gift people buy for others and for themselves, it’s perishable, and it’s sensitive to heat in transit. That changes what your emails need to say: when to order, how it will ship, and what you’re proud of.
The five emails
- Early access for the gift box lineup (the week before Black Friday). Your boxes are your best-selling gift item; give subscribers a first look and tell them if quantities are limited.
- Black Friday: the box and the bundle. Instead of discounting individual pieces, offer a bundle (“Any 3 boxes for $X”) or a free add-on, such as a small bar with every order.
- Small Business Saturday: the maker story. Chocolatiers and candy makers have the best story in retail: the kettle, the copper pan, the family recipe. Tell one true thing and show the product. Example emails here.
- Corporate and bulk gifts (early December). Many shops get a surprising share of December sales from teams and clients. A short email with a quantity and a price break, and a plain order-by date, makes that easy.
- Last day to ship, and the pickup follow-up. Tell shoppers your last ship date and your cold-pack or shipping rules, then switch to local pickup once the window closes. Template here.
What to put in a candy shop’s emails
- Shipping notes in plain words. If you ship with insulated packaging or ice packs in warm regions, say so; if you don’t ship to certain places or in certain weather, say that too.
- Allergen and ingredient notes on gift boxes if you can, or a link to them.
- Flavor names people recognize. Sea salt caramels and peppermint bark outsell clever names.
- Photos of the box open, not only closed. People buy what the inside looks like.
